About our director

Cheryl Wilcox became the director of FVC in 2002, bringing with her over 20 years of experience as a Sweet Adeline.  Her enthusiasm and love of barbershop is exhilarating!

Under Cheryl's direction, FVC took second place in the 2007 Harmony Classic, an international competition of the top five midsize (30-60 members) choruses in the Sweet Adelines International organization.  Other achievements under Cheryl's direction include winning the Region 1 midsize chorus competition in 2006 and 2008, and finishing second in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2009.  In 2012, Cheryl brought this mid-size chorus to first place, making the Farmington Valley Chorus eligible to compete at International Competition in Hawaii the first week of November 2013!

Cheryl received her musical "basic training" at Hartford Conservatory of Music.  Her love of barbershop began as she watched her mother sing with FVC and it grew stronger as she sang aa a young member of the chorus herself.  Cheryl became an accoumplished quartet singer, placing as high as 11th at the International level.  She's now singing baritone with the  2013 Region 1 fourth place medalists, Off Kilter.
